Nervous Rex

Nervous Rex

And how my stomach burns but only at night,
When the moon is bright
And I have dreams about bears with the reddest mouths.
But your arms are warm
And your legs are wrapped around,
And the sound of your heart
The unsteady sound.

Been listening to a lot of Laura Stevenson and the Cans to get me through this rough shit. I really do have faith things will eventually fall into place for me and my man, but the wait is killing me. So I guess it’s good I like to draw and such, right? I think it’s a good sign I’ve been able to get back into doing these things, as I have had a pretty tumultuous go of it. (I was in the hospital for about a month and adjusting to regular life and also trying to manage this awkwardness with my guy, plus land a promotion at work has been kind of overwhelming.) Anyway, this image was super inspired by the song it’s titled after, in particular the lyrics I put there. It is so moving to me and it reminds me a lot of how my man makes me feel, even if he’s being kind of an idiot right now.

Thank you to everyone who visited Jen and I at Otakon this year!! We had a lot of fun talking to everybody who came by to buy something or just to browse through our stuff and look at all the art. I guess attendance was up a lot this year because we were pretty crazy… Read more.

Manga NEXT 2012

This weekend, my friend, Jenn, who draws the webcomic, ‘Run Lil Jared’, will be sharing a table at Manga NEXT, a small anime convention in New Jersey. If you’re going to be around, you should totally stop by to see the sweet artwork we’ll have for sale. I really dropped the ball on conventions last year, so I hope to try and sell art at at least five or six of them this year. I think it’ll help me jumpstart the lull I’ve had in my art-making for the past year — something I blame on having a soulless day job for so long. Determined to try and make something of myself this year!! I’ll maybe post some art tutorials of work I get commissioned for during the weekend!

Hello world!

I finally decided to create a place online for my artwork that was a bit more professional than the fansites I maintain. That’s not to say that everything I post here will be 100% original fine art all the time, but I want this site to be more about me as an artist than me as a fan, if that makes sense. Having said that, I hope that all the people who have been following me up until now will continue to do so — and that they then tell their friends about it so a crazy amount of networking can happen!
