Shannon Hochman is an artist, cartoonist and illustrator currently residing in New York City. She has been drawing since she could hold a pencil, and is particularly taken with things that are super stylistic, pretty, or otherwise just plain awesome. Her BFA is in animation, which she studied at The School of Visual Arts, though she has found her art is expanding beyond the confines of what works for that sort of medium. (Blame all the ridiculous cartoonists she used to hang out with in school.) Because she is secretly a grumpy old man, she is a pretty steadfast traditionalist, and enjoys working with gouache, acrylic, pencil, inks, markers and pretty much anything else she can get her grubby hands on, though she has been known to whip out a digital picture or two when the mood strikes her and the planets are aligned just right. Her other disciplines include fiction writing, cooking, video game playing and horrible karaoke singing.
This blog is her place to share her artwork beyond the smaller artist communities she usually lurks around on the internet. She hopes that anyone who cruises on through finds what she does cool and/or at least mildly interesting. She also hopes those anyones won’t be shy about letting her know about it.
